Get Ready For Summer With An Organized Garage

6.4.2021

The garage is an extended part of the house that can sometimes be ignored.

The first step towards organizing your garage is seeing it as part of the house. Life happens and it’s ok if it becomes a little messy, but this summer let’s set a goal together to use the garage for its designated purpose - to house your vehicles and all your outdoor gear.

May and June are a great time to work on the garage because it’s getting warmer and nice to be outside but not too hot where it’s hard to work.

BONUS TIP- Ask a friend or family member for help. My dad and I recently helped my sister-in-law and brother organize their garage and we had a lot of fun. Or maybe that was just me ;-). It helped to have extra hands especially when it came to lifting and moving big items.

STEP 1:

Empty everything in your garage to the driveway and separate into piles. (Please check weather beforehand. I don’t want anything getting ruined if there’s a chance of rain).

STEP 2:

Categorize everything and label everything in the driveway. Then, begin to create a trash and donate pile.

STEP 3:

Clean as you go. As you are emptying the garage, dust and sweep periodically to keep your work station clean.

STEP 4:

De-clutter. As you put things in categories, you most likely threw some things away, but now is the time to specifically focus on de-cluttering. Go through your piles thoroughly and see what you can purge.

STEP 5:

Call Us at Modular Closets
Now is the fun part - designing your closet! Once your space is empty now you have a beautiful blank canvas to create the perfect garage closet.

(If you need any organizing help email me at christina@modularclosets.com)

Cabinets look amazing in the garage and give a sleek, clean look and our wire baskets are great for basketballs, pool floats and larger items.

STEP 6: Install your closet.
You are almost there! Now it’s time to install your closet.

STEP 7: Organizing time!
The last and final step is to organize your garage and bring it to life.

With a modular closet system in place, a clean garage and a final list of categories you are prepared to put everything back in its new designated place.

STEP 8:

Park your car. You did it! Your garage is de cluttered, organized, and now you can fit your car inside. It’s such a great feeling.

STEP 9:

Share the final look.
We would love to see the final space. Tag us on Instagram or email us your “after photos.”

Have fun and let me know if you have any questions!

Happy organizing,
Christina
